What you need to know before you book your airfare and tickets
Looking for a hot beach destination that is not too far away from home? Then you should book yourself a cheap flight to Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands. This Spanish island off the coast of Morocco, boasts hot weather year round which makes it a perfect winter getaway. The beaches are excellent and abundant so you can take your pick. A good start is the Playas de las Teresitas in San Andres. It's near Santa Cruz de Tenerife which is the capital of the island. It's a bit touristy but the town has still retained a lot of its original charm. Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos is where you will find most of the high rise holiday resorts. But the island offers so much more than just beaches. The interior boasts some dramatic landscapes and this being a volcanic island there are some jaw dropping vistas to be seen. It's worth your while to take a drive across the island and admire the views from the windows of your car. You certainly can't miss the Parque Nacional del Teide, which is now a Unesco World Heritage Site. Mount Teide which is in the park, is the highest peak of the island and if you do manage to climb to the top, you will be rewarded with a superb view across the entire island.
