What you need to know before you book your airfare and tickets
Have you booked a cheap flight from Bristol to some exotic destination? Or maybe you just want to spend a nice weekend somewhere in the UK. Bristol has a great many things to do within its city limits, but it also make a good base to explore the surrounding area. There are plenty of cute B&B's you can book especially in Clifton. So all you need is a cheap rental car and away you go!
Bristol is only about 30 miles from the Cotswolds. You can drive along the scenic country roads and gawk at the pretty whitewashed cottages and stop for high tea or antique browsing at one of the quaint villages such as Cirencester. Then drive onwards to the city of Bath and admire the ancient architecture of the Roman Baths that gave this town its name. If you're in the mood for more ancient structures, then drive on to Stonehenge before heading back to Bristol.
However if you're short on time and can stay in Bristol itself, you don't have to worry about being bored either. Take a walk around the Clifton area and its Georgian houses. You'll find nice cafes and independent shops lining the pavements. Have a look at the enormous suspension bridge and if you're really interested, have a wander around the visitor centre to find out more. Take a stroll around St Nicholas market for some fresh food and take it to the park for a pick nick on a sunny afternoon. Cabot Circus is the place to go for some serious shopping. Then head over to the Harbourside area to end the evening with some yummie food, great cocktails and a nice view over the water at the Shore Cafe.
