What you need to know before you book your airfare and tickets
Scotland might not be known for its nice weather, but who cares if you are in Glasgow. This city has grown into a very cosmopolitan place and has a fantastic art and music scene. So why not book a cheap flight to Glasgow and check out this bustling city? If you are looking for cheap accommodation that is also funky, check into the Brunswick hotel in central Glasgow. Doubles cost around 65GBP and it includes a yummie continental style breakfast in the downstairs restaurant. There is also a bar in the basement that features live entertainment on the weekends. For more gigs head over to the West End and you will be sure to find some live bands performing in the many bars and pubs that you find there. Art lovers should take a look at the centre for architecture and design, and if you are an art hater, it is still worth a visit if only to take in the superb views of the city from here. Shopaholics can eat their heart out over at the Buchanan Galleries shopping mall. It is apparently the biggest shopping centre in Europe and even holds an ice rink. If you want to try authentic Scottish food such as haggis, try out Stravaigin. They actually serve international cuisine but try out their Scottish Sunday brunch. It is to die for. For a funky yet quirky night out have a drink at Uisge Beatha. There are 4 different rooms and you can choose from 100 different kinds of whiskies. It certainly is not for you if you are into the trendy stylish bars, but it will be an interesting night out. Glasgow is the gateway to the Highlands, so if you want to take in some of the amazing Scottish countryside, get yourself a cheap rental car and head north towards Loch Lomond. Or if you brought your hiking boots, head further up north to Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK with some great hiking trails around the mountain and all the way up to the top. Great views guaranteed!
