What you need to know before you book your airfare and tickets
Nestled in the Sinai desert on the shores of the Red Sea, this city is the place to go to if you're looking for a quick fix for your winter blues. It's only a short flight away from the UK, so why not book a cheap flight to Sharm El Sheik and indulge in some well deserved relaxation and pampering on the Egyptian beaches? But even if you're looking for a more active holiday, Sharm has something for you as well. The former fishing village has grown extensively over the last few years and now boasts an impressive skyline with mega luxurious hotels, bars and restaurants and plenty of activities and excursion options. Most of the action happens in the centre of town which is called Naama Bay. Have a wander around the Old Market here and browse the many souvenir shops and spice stalls. This is also the place to be for a good night out. You'll find all the well known names here such as the Hard Rock Cafe, Pacha and Budhha Bar. But if you want something more authentic, enjoy a meal in an authentic Bedouin tent. You will be taken to these tents in the desert on camels after which you will be entertained by the Bedouins with authentic food, tea and songs. Or what about a reef party? Check it out at one of the diving centres in Sharm and enquire about the night dives that are organised on a regular basis. The Red Sea is of course the ultimate place for diving and this is an excellent place to get certified. But most of the diving centres offer introductory dives as well if you're a novice and just want to see what it's like. Another option is to go snorkelling and if you're lucky, you might even spot a dolphin or two. Want to learn a bit more about Egyptian history? Then book a day trip to Cairo and visit the famous Pyramids of Gizah. There are plenty of tour operators in town who will fly you there and back in one day.
