Booked a cheap flight to Shannon? Check out the many cities and regions you can visit around Shannon Airport. Shannon is so centrally located that it is the perfect base to start your trip to discover Ireland. Hire a car at the airport and drive to Kerry in the south of the country for instance. Drive around the famous Ring of Kerry and be mesmerised by the dramatic coastal views and country side. The Ring of Dingle gives pretty much the same experience. The only difference is that you'll have the added bonus of spotting the dolphin Fungi in Dingle Bay. Another must see natural wonder are the Cliffs of Moher, north of Shannon. They are Ireland's number 1 visitors' attraction, but even though there are many tourists, It's still worth the trip. From here Connemara National Park is only a short drive away. This park is great for hiking, biking and many other outdoorsy activities. If you don't feel that active, then a drive around this park with its moon like landscape is worth it alone. Continue on to the city of Galway and enjoy a couple of pints of Guinness in one of the many pubs in its town centre. This lively town has more to offer than boozy nights. You'll find excellent restaurants such as Schooners on the Bay that does fantastic seafood. Or try Orchid Restaurant where you can indulge in tasty Asian fusion dishes. Shoppers can eat their heart out too. There are plenty of shops that sell Irish souvenirs, as well as department stores such as Dunnes Stores and Brown Thomas.
