What you need to know before you book your airfare and tickets
It might not be a warm sunny getaway as it rains here 9 months of the year, but don't let this stop you from booking a cheap flight to Seattle. Since Boeing and Microsoft set up shop in this town, many young professionals moved here which turned it into a vibrant and buzzy place. It also makes for a convenient base to explore the rest of Washington State as well as nearby Canada. Home of the first Starbucks , Seattle is where the now universal coffee culture started and there are many other independent coffee houses to be found. Try Speakeasy Cafe for a cup of local java or if you like a side of poetry with your macchiato, get comfy at the Queen Anne Coffee House and listen to poetry readings. Another one of Seattle's famous exports is grunge music. (Remember Pearl Jam and Nirvana? ) Although it has seen its heyday, you can still enjoy life music from local bands in the Bell Town area. Try the Crocodile Cafe which was and still is a bit of an institution. This area is also good for finding trendy restaurants and hip clothing stores. For the obligatory visits to the major sights, hop on one of the many city tour buses or whizz up to the observatory deck of the Space Needle. You will be taken to Pikes Place Market to sample some gourmet food as well as some of the top restaurants of the city. Make sure you arrive hungry for this one!
