What you need to know before you book your airfare and tickets
Fancy a shopping trip? Why not check out Stockholm? Stylish clothing and home decor shops galore in the Swedish capital. And I'm not just talking about Ikea and H&M. Check out the department store NK on Hamngatan where you'll find several other shops as well. If you're looking for some international chains and local chains, head to Drottninggatan. Here you'll find the usual suspects such as Zara, Mango and of course H&M. However there are some lesser well known chain shops as well. My personal favorite is Indiska. This Asian themed store sells everything from home accessories to clothing to jewelry , all with Indian designs. And even if it is a chain, you won't find it anywhere outside of Scandinavia. Biblioteksgatan is the street to go to for exclusive finds. Cool independent shops and boutiques is what it's all about here. There are some shops in Gamla Stan which is the old part of the city, but these are mainly aimed at tourists so all you'll find here are tacky souvenirs. It's a great area to walk around though with its cute cobbled stoned streets and typically Swedish architectur. Hip Stockholm flocks to Sofo, an area in Sodermalm where Trendy bars, hip restaurants and fashionable boutiques line the streets. Sofo stands for South of Folkungagatan. Check out Folkhemmet which is a very nice bar/restaurant, but if you want to go all out then head to Gondolen in Slussen which kind of sits between Soder and Gamla Stan. Makes sure you dress to impress as it's an uber-posh place, but the views are amazing. If you want to keep the cash in your pocket, but still want to soak up the atmosphere, have some cocktails in the bar. Another option is the WC Bar. Not a very tantalising name, but they do good food and drinks. It's on skanegatan.
