What you need to know before you book your airfare and tickets
If you've booked a cheap flight to Newark, chances are you will be spending your break in New York City. But if you want to give your trip to the Big Apple a different flavour, why not spend some more time in New Jersey while you're there? Manhattanites might not agree, but there actually is life on the other side of the Hudson River. Take Hoboken, the birthplace of Frank Sinatra and Little league Baseball. Over the last few years it has attracted quite a number of New Yorkers looking for cheaper places to rent and with the result that loads of trendy bars and restaurants popped up all along the down town area. And you know what? Food and drinks are cheaper and the view is better on this side of the river. Try City Bistro's rooftop bar. Your cosmopolitan will taste so much better with the Manhattan skyline in the background. They offer al fresco dining on their patio as well. After a night out on Washington street, head over to the Madison Bar and Grill for a jazzy breakfast buffet on Sunday morning. Your eggs come with a mimosa or bloody Mary. Just what you need to fight that hangover. Finish your day with a leisurely stroll along the riverside path or catch a game in the Yankee stadium which is now located next to Newark Airport. If you're visiting in summer, the Jersey shoreline should not be missed. There are plenty of sandy beaches to be found here. Check out Atlantic City for some Las Vegas style gambling or head over to Cape May for a more relaxing beach experience.
