What you need to know before you book your airfare and tickets
Feel like topping up your tan in the Med? Why not book a cheap flight to Menorca, the somewhat lesser known island of the Balearics. Just because most people choose to visit Mallorca and Ibiza, doesn't mean their little sister is not worth a visit. On the contrary, the lack of tourists makes this an excellent destination for a relaxing escape. It offers a wild and untouched landscape, great food and superb beaches. When you get off your cheap flight to Mahon, hop in a rental car and check into a B&B or hostal in the town of Citudella on the North coast of the island. Discover the history that hides in the ancient buildings and narrow streets of the former capital of the island. Drive to Mahon the current capital of Menorca and visit a cheese making factory. Taste the exquisite white cheese that put Mahon on the map. The next day head over to the beaches at Cala Santandria and Sa Caleta for some R&R and go snorkelling in the clear blue water of the Mediterranean. In the evening head back to the marina in Ciutadella and indulge in the many tasty dishes prepared in one of the many restaurants here. Then head over to the Sa Clau Jazz Club for the best Jazz music on the island to finish off the day. Sounds pretty good to me.
