You can even venture inside one of the Pyramids. Admire the immense Sphynx that's still majestically guarding the pyramid. For a truly authentic visit, hop on one of the camels that are lazily lying in the sun, waiting for the next tourist to hop on their backs. Might be a bit cheesy, but hey, it's all part of the fun. Cairo itself boasts the interesting Egyptian Museum. Marvel at the numerous sarcophagus and mummified pharaohs and other seemingly important people from that time. For food that is authentic and truely local, try Felfela restaurant. It's in El Tahrir. It's easy on the wallet and tasty, so what more can you want? Or try Casinos on the Nile and enjoy some good food while gazing across the river. Have a chat and a drink at the relaxed Promenade bar. It's got a laid back atmosphere and a nice view of the surrounding gardens. They also serve decent meals if you're a bit peckish after a few.
