What you need to know before you book your airfare and tickets
Budapest is one of the many gems located in the former East Block. Now accessible to anyone and everyone, this city has grown into a veritable cosmopolitan and vibrant place to visit. So make sure you put booking a cheap flight to Budapest at the top of your to do list. The city actually consists of two cities; Buda where you'll find all the historic buildings especially in the Castle District. On the other side of the Danube there is Pest which holds the financial and party district. The Turks may not have been all that nice a few centuries ago, but they did leave behind a great number of health spas and baths that should be at the top of every visitor's list. Take a dip in the baths at the fabulous Rudas Spa and indulge in some pampering and relaxation. Or try the baths at the Gellert hotel. The Art Nouveau architecture makes it feel like you've been warped back in time. For a bohemian night out, have a drink at one of the romkocsmas, or ruin bars. They're bars that are temporarily located in desolate buildings or uninhabited apartments. Ask a local to see where to go for the hottest locations. Szimpla Kert, in Pest, is one of them at the moment. You can go here to have a coffee, a beer or even catch a movie. For a traditional Hungarian meal, fork out some cash and head to the Cyrano although for Uk wallets it's still affordable. They do great local dishes and a complete meal will set you back a mere 30 pounds.
