What you need to know before you book your airfare and tickets
Home to many of Gaudi's pieces. You can't visit this city without visiting at least one of his works of art, because he is everywhere. If you're a fan then The Sagrada Familia is a must visit. If you are not that much of an art lover, but like to see what the fuss is all about, then pack a pick nick and spend an afternoon lazing in Park Guell. This city park holds a few quirky designs by the artist which you can admire while nibbling on your sandwiches. If you want to get a feel of old style Barcelona, wander around the small streets in Barrio Gotico. This part of the city dates back to medieval times and you can easily waste an afternoon here, browsing antique shops and getting lost in little alley ways. In the early evening have a drink on the many sidewalk cafes on the Ramblas and watch the whole of Barcelona go by. Then head over to Citrus restaurant in Passeig de Gracia for a tasty but reasonably priced dinner. For a panoramic cocktail, check out Mirabe Bar. Do take a taxi, because it is a bit of a task to get there, but it's well worth it. Stools are lined up along the window so all punters get the same view of the city. If the weather is nice, you can sit outside on the terrace and watch the sun go down over Barcelona.
