What you need to know before you book your airfare and tickets
Venice might well be sinking according to some, but for now it's still above water and waiting for you to be discovered. It's one of the most romantic cities in Europe and don't forget the fantastic Italian kitchen. What better place to wow your significant other? You can never go wrong here. So check out the cheap flights to Venice deals out now and book yourself a seat. The best way to go and explore the city of bridges is of course by water. You can opt for one of the standard gondolas but if you want something different and not do as everyone else does, book a water taxi with Venice Guide & Boat instead. You will have your own boat at your disposal with your own personal tour guide who will show you all the secret little corners of the city. For two hours your private vessel is yours and yours only. No other annoying tourists standing in front of your camera when you're just about to take that perfect shot. They do offer full day tours as well. Another two of my favorite places to go to in Venice are the Rialto Food Markets; the Erberia and Pescheria markets. This is where locals come to buy their food. The Pescheria is a fish market and attracts more tourists than the Erberia, but both are interesting places to look around. Buy some fresh fruit and bread at the Erberia and find a quiet place overlooking the water and enjoy a cheap self-made breakfast or lunch. There are so many churches and cathedrals to visit, and of course you can't have come to Venice without visiting the San Marco. But when you've done all the famous touristy bits and want to see a different side of the city, then head to the north east of Venice and go to San Francesco della Vigna church in the neighborhood called Castello. This is a delightful little church that has some great artworks inside. Walk around the area as well and absorb the truly Venetian atmosphere of this neighborhood. Eating out in Venice can be quite pricey but doesn't have to be. There is a restaurant called La Colombina di Sigfrido e Domenico and it serves some scrumptious Italian dishes for almost nothing. But if you have the cash and are looking for a fab night out, try to get a table at Martini Scala Club Piano Bar. They serve excellent food and you can enjoy some live music while you have dinner. Another romantic option is Le bistrot de Venise. They serve tasty authentic Venetian food with a side of cabaret. The best ingredients for a interesting night out on the town.
