What you need to know before you book your airfare and tickets
Booked a cheap flight to Toronto? Make sure you bring some extra empty suitcases. This Canadian city is pretty much New York's little sister, as it offers all the great stores you can find in the Big Apple, but on a smaller scale. There are plenty of indoor and underground malls so if you are visiting in winter there will be no need to wrap up like an Eskimo to hit the shops here. Try Eaton Centre which has over 200 shops and is located right in the down town area. If you want to do something quirky, make sure you visit the Bata Shoe Museum. It tells you all about the history of the shoe from all the corners of the world. For a nice afternoon stroll, head over to Victorian Cabbage town. The story goes that Irish immigrants who lived here in the previous century were so poor they had to grow their own cabbages in their gardens. Now it is a quiet residential area with cosy cafes and attractive art galleries. For dinner try 'Only in Paradise'. Its underwater theme gives it a very cheerful atmosphere. The even have a pet sea turtle crawling around. If you are in town in summer, try to get a table on the outside patio and it will really feel like you are dining in paradise. For a trendy cocktail, try the Drake hotel in artsy Parkdale. You might forget this is actually a hotel as there is a nightclub on every floor, a superb restaurant and a breezy rooftop bar. Oh and the price for a room is not too bad either if you are looking for cheap accommodation to go with your cheap flight to Toronto. A double room goes for around 100 GBP.
