What you need to know before you book your airfare and tickets
Famous for its dangerously leaning tower, this town makes for an enjoyable weekend getaway or a perfect base to explore Tuscany. Pisa is not a very large town and can be easily explored in a couple of days. The main sights are of course the famous three on the Square of Miracles; The leaning tower, the Duomo Cathedral and the Bapistry. However if you want to get away from all the tourists and the many tacky souvenirs shops, head to the centre of the old town and visit the many little churches that are scattered around the city. Take a peek at the small Santa Maria della Spina Church the only building on the banks of the Arno river. Or check out the Orto Botanico di Pisa. It's the oldest European university botanical garden. Getting peckish? Via Santa Maria is the place to go to have a cheap bite to eat at one of the many outdoor cafes. Spend the rest of the day shopping in the Corso Italia. This is also a street stacked with great restaurants and cosy bars. Tired of the buzz of the city? Hire a car and drive to Marina di Pisa on the coast. Take a stroll on the never ending boulevard lined with plenty of eateries. Another worthwhile day trip is San Gimignano, the famous tower village of Tuscany. The many high towers give this small town a Manhattan like skyline you can see from miles away. I'm sure you can't wait to book your cheap flight to Pisa.
