Fancy finding a cheap flight to Melbourne and heading down under? Melbourne is always one of the world's top 5 most livable cities, and it's not hard to figure out why. Situated around a bay and with the Yarra river running through the core of the city, its a destination that is brilliant for food, drinks, nightlife, shopping and of course sport! Home to the Melbourne Cricket Ground one of the most legendary sports stadiums in the world, able to hold 100,000 people, Melbourne has a host of sporting events all year round, including the Formula 1 Grand Prix (March), Melbourne International Tennis Grand Slam (January), Australian Rules Football (April - September) as well as International Cricket and national rugby, football (soccer), this list goes on. Shopping is another famous past time in Melbourne with key places for shopping are Collins Street, Flinders Lane and Melbourne central in the city, Brunswick street in Brunswick, Bridge Road Richmond (for great bargains) and Chapel Street South Yarra and Prahran (slightly out of the city central but well worth the effort) for the funkiest parts of town. Thanks to much cultural heritage from inhabitants from Italy, Greece, Croatia and Europe, Melbourne has some of the best food in the world and some of the widest ranges available. Some well known venues are the anywhere on Lygon street for great Italian, Chinatown for cheap chinese food, Chapel street for all kinds of food in the funkiest street in town, the Flower Drum for very up Chinese food and service, Donovan's in St Kilda right on the water and beach. Melbourne city is full of little lane ways and eateries so the best way to find them is to wander around the city and find them. Make sure you check out Docklands and Southbank (particularly at night when the fire displays are on the hour). Melbourne has everything to keep you going for many days and nights and may not have the Opera House but is everything that Sydney wishes it was.
