What you need to know before you book your airfare and tickets
Copenhagen is a very compact city and easily discovered on foot. A rental bike is another smart option if you want to see a bit more in less time. It is not quite like riding in Amsterdam, but the Danes know a thing or two about cycling. Check out Rent a Bike for rental options. Do visit the statue of the little mermaid. The poor girl has been beheaded and vandalised a few times, but she still remains a Danish national symbol. Even if she is tiny and not actually a mermaid, it is worth the trek, because the path along the water at Langelinie makes for a very scenic stroll. Don't miss the bohemian neighborhood of Christiania. It was once a quarter where people lived above the law and where anything and everything was possible. The authorities have clamped down on illegal activities in recent years, but it still remains a very 'interesting' area. Don't be surprised to see a family roasting a full pig in their front garden. If you are visiting in summer, have a walk through the Tivoli park. It's an amusement park, but there are some great restaurants within its walls as well. It is especially cheerful at night when all the rides are lit up. If you have got some cash to spare, book a room at the SKT. Petri Hotel. It is a trendy designer hotel where soothing lounge music welcomes you as you enter the lobby. If it's a bit out of your budget, have a look at their cafe and order a tasty muesli with yoghurt breakfast which you can enjoy on their side walk terrace in the sun. Weather permitted... If you are looking for a funky night out, head over to the Vesterbro or KÃødbyen. There is an abundance of great bars in both areas. Try the amazing cocktails at Karrierebar or Jolenebar
