What you need to know before you book your airfare and tickets
Fancy a trip to the French wine country? Book a cheap flight to Bergerac now. Bergerac is the gateway to the Perigord Pourpre wine region located in the South of France. Rent a car and cruise around the lush vineyards and stop for some wine tastings at one of the many wineries in the region. The most famous wines from this region come from the area around Monbillac. And Bergerac is smack in the middle of it all. The town itself has a long and turbulent history as it played an important part in the 16th Century when the then Protestant inhabitants put up a brave fight against the opposition. The town now boasts two interesting museums. One is a tobacco museum and has many tobacco related items on display and it shows you a lot about the ins and outs of tobacco plants. The other museum is called The Musee Regional de la Batellerie. Here you will learn all about the river trade in the area and of course all about wine making. There are a few quaint restaurants in the centre of town that are quite reasonably priced. Try some regional cuisine at the Poivre et Sel opposite the Musee du Tabac. It will only set you back around 15 Euro. Or if you don't mind spending a bit of money, enjoy a superb meal at L'Imparfait just off the main square. The decor oozes class and the food is quality as well. Certainly worth the extra Euros.
